Banshee, alias Sean Cassidy, is a character created by Roy Thomas and Werner Roth, whose first appearance on Marvel Comics dates back to 1967. The hero has the capability to fly and to emit powerul sonic waves, which he can even inflict psychic disturbacens to his enemies with. The statue was digitally sculpted by Jason Smith and released by Bowen Design in 2011, with an edition size limited to 500 samples. As often happens for the members of the X-Men team, the hero stands up on the ruins of a Sentinel (in this case, a open hand), in a dynamic, in-flight pose. The arms, open and bent as to inflate the muscles, point out the elegant and powerful physique, with well defined pectorals and abdominals, while the legs (the right bent forward and the left elongated and resting on the Sentinel hand) show the tension of the quadriceps in a masterful way. The excellent aesthetic impact is guaranteed by the amazing sculpt of the body and the bright colors of the suit, where the dominant, deep green perfectly matches the brilliant yellow on the long gloves and boots, the V-shaped patch on chest and back and the tall collar surrounding the neck. The chromatic contrast of the whole figure is further emphasized by the many shades which highlight any muscle contour, the two, typical "wings" placed between arms and legs (with black and yellow stripes) and the metallic tone of the purple color used for the Sentinel hand, vertically positioned on a circular base. The sculpt and painting of this hand are very well done: the fingers are bent and half open, with the forefinger sheared off; both the palm and back of the hand show a large cut revealing inner metallic cables, while other robotic mechanisms are located at bottom. The face is expressive and represents the hero in the act of launching one of his deadly screams: note the well painted green eyes, the charming reddish mane, the wide open mouth and the wrinkles on nose and cheeks, which point out the tension of the facial muscles. The prices of the Banshee statue are generally very high, due to the relatively limited run (and, consequently, the rather poor availability on market) and, more in the general, to the great appreciation by all collectors. An appreciation fully justified, in my humble opinion, by the very high quality and aesthetics of the statue: simply a must-have for all fans of the X-Men!
